Building Ethical Management & Culture

AAFCPAs’ Jeffrey Mead and Olga Yasinnik, and guest speaker Jennifer H. Elder will present a 4-hour ethics CPE course on Building Ethical Management & Culture at FEI-Boston’s June 20th Ethics Symposium.

The Panel will explore ethical professional conduct and personal moral judgement, including:

Jeffrey E. Mead, CPA, CGMA, Audit Partner, AAFCPAs

Jeffrey is a Partner and leader of AAFCPAs’ Commercial Practice, providing proactive audit/assurance, tax, and advisory solutions for closely-held and privately-owned businesses. His diverse commercial client base includes: professional service firms, technology companies, publishers, and manufacturers/distributors.

 

Jeffrey strives to use the audit process as a fulcrum to leverage opportunities and to provide high-value, creative services to his clients. He has significant experience advising clients on economic and tax implications for key transactions, as well as new or complex applications of accounting pronouncements. He is a member of AAFCPAs’ Revenue Recognition and Lease Accounting Task Forces, providing technical accounting advice regarding understanding new standards, assessing the impact, and guidance on implementation and transition. He has extensive expertise advising employee benefit plan fiduciaries, including those offering 401(k), 403(b), defined benefit plans, and profit-sharing plans.

Additionally, Jeffrey advises owners and shareholders on business exit strategy planning, including guidance on selecting the optimal exit, such as: transfer/sale of ownership to next generation, transfer/sale to management; partial sale to private equity firm; sell to Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP); or gifting.

Jeffrey is a thought leader in accounting, presenting financial management and regulatory compliance training sessions to the New England finance community, including the Boston Chapter of Financial Executives International (FEI-Boston), the American Accounting Association (AAA), and Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education, Inc. (MCLE | New England). He shares his expertise on professional ethics, how big data and analytics are transforming the assurance process, and best practice implementation of new accounting standards. He currently serves as a Manning School of Business Executive-Faculty-in-Residence for the University of Massachusetts Lowell (UMass Lowell) for academic years 2017-2018 and 2018-2019. 

 

Olga Yasinnik, MBA, CPA, Manager, AAFCPAs

Olga specializes in driving high-energy audit teams, and advising sophisticated nonprofit organizations, including multi-services human & social services providers, community development corporations (CDCs) and their affordable housing development projects. She provides proactive guidance to these clients who receive state and federal grants and must file Uniform Financial Reports (UFRs) and require audits in accordance with Uniform Guidance/Single Audit and Government Auditing Standards. Olga has extensive experienced in advising clients with projects funded by Low Income Housing and Historical Tax Credits. She is an active leader of AAF’s Affordable Housing and Real Estate Community Development, and Human & Social Services practices. 

 

Olga is an active member of AAFCPAs’ Accounting & Auditing Committee, and an in-house technical trainer on ethical standards of professional conduct and business practices, state and federal grant compliance, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) audits, and the FASB's new lease accounting standard. Olga is a leader in AAFCPAs’ Lease Accounting Standard Task Force and has been devoted to understanding and interpreting the new ASU since the FASB announced the project. She authored a detailed Whitepaper, outlining the significant changes resulting from the new ASU, including: a comprehensive outline of the scope of the new lease standard, effective dates, disclosure requirements, and practical considerations for lessees and lessors. Olga is an alumna of the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce/Simmons School of Management 2014-2015 Women’s Leadership Program. She is a past winner of AAFCPAs’ peer-nominated Excellence in Client Service award, in recognition of her exceptional efforts, and she has been serving AAF clients with distinction since 2009. She speaks English, Ukrainian and Russian.

Jennifer Elder, CSP, CPA, CMA, CIA, CFF, CGMA, MS works with companies to find creative solutions to their most challenging problems.  She helps financial leaders become more strategic, stay ahead of the competition, and be more successful.  

 

As a consultant and keynote speaker Jennifer is known for being energetic and enthusiastic.  She has a natural talent for taking complicated topics and making them simple, practical, and immediately implementable.  She has worked with the Fortune 500, US Government, State CPA Societies, and CPA firms in 48 states and 5 countries.

 

In 2018, CPA Practice Advisor named Jennifer one of the Top 25 Women in Accounting.  The AICPA and MACPA named her a “Woman to Watch” in 2015.  She has been awarded Outstanding Educator by the AICPA five times.

 

Jennifer has earned the designation of Certified Speaking Professional (CSP), the speaking profession’s highest international measure of professional platform competence.  She is one of only 10 people worldwide who hold both the CPA and CSP designations.

For FEI CPE credits, one credit hour equals 50 minutes according to NASBA guidelines. Some states boards may differ on how many minutes constitute a credit hour.
